Given that an identity function means f(x) = x is there a name for an "negative identity function", g(x), equivalent roughly in linear maths to timesing by -1, that means g(x) + x = 0?

???

I don't think I ever heard of a set name for "f(x) = -x".

The danger of calling it a "negative identity function" is that commonly people refer to inverse functions, and hence if people naturally interpreted the term "negative" as "inverse" then they would assume you meant the inverse of the identity function, which is the identity function.

I would think that possible confusion is sufficient to disqualify trying to describe the function in such language.
