[Public, Filtered away from Lupin and Black]

Nothing says life's not fair like showing young adults that regardless of effort, victory will be snatched from them if the opposing side has a hero in their ranks.

During the flood, Bellatrix Lestrange made it quite clear that she intends to do harm to Martha.

I don't suppose I could enlist you to aid in her protection.

Because she's non-magic, right?

Because she is my wife, and a Muggle, and because Bellatrix knows my loyalties.

I have put Martha in extreme danger.

Yeah?

[Good call.]

Are you aware of Bellatrix Lestrange's presence on the ship?

...

Yes.

If confronted with her, can you defend yourself?

I thought this might have been a bad idea.

And why is that?

Because it's going to lead to more rants like this one.

That said, the second movie later?

I take house loyalty far more seriously than I may have originally intimated.

My room, eleven. Black arrives at three; you and I will be done for the day by then, I believe.

Are you aware of Bellatrix Lestrange? Her history, her presence on the Barge?

Black? What's - never mind. No, I don't know her. Friend of yours?

We go back, you might say.

The flood put me in a rather untenable position; she knows I betrayed her and her master, and that I have married someone against whom she holds distinct prejudice.

In short, I have placed Martha in extreme danger and now find it necessary to provide her with constant protection.

Doesn't seem like too bad a lesson to me, that well behaved men and women never make history.

But I'm hardly an expert in whatever it is you're talking about. Pretty sure some of those words you're using didn't even exist in my day.

Education is not about earning your rightful place in history texts.

Surely that depends on what you're being educated in?

Survival, generally, if we're talking childhood to adulthood. Dumb luck exists for the people that step outside of the directions they're given but it's not the sort of thing to be rewarded. [Mozenrath hates dumb luck :|]
