I received a postcard today, from Ms. R, from Australia. Given her severe case of Hadleyspeak, it was no surprise at all that I can't read her handwriting. It was very sweet of her to think of me though - I don't think we've exchanged words in about three years. -

Driving up to HVille yesterday, first time this year, I kinda decided that for the first time ever I would "open things up" for the season without filling the boiler and turning it on. While E may have celebrated her half century birthday this week, I have my own milestone to celebrate. When I started my current job, I started getting paid by check, instead of direct deposit, for the first time in very many years. Why can't anyone else see this?
phineasjones was taking a picture with her new camera the other night and noticed that the Christmas tree lights as seen on the camera preview screen were slowly going on and off, while in real life they were staying on. finished Trojan Odyssey by Clive Cussler. I may have missed one or two books here due to my lack of posting lately, but I couldn't let this one go by. Usually I try to pass a book along, rather than throwing it out, but in this case I'm throwing it out to make sure than noone else inflicts this book on him or herself. -

Last weekend I winterized the house. This consists of making sure the windows are closed, the storm windows are in place, air conditioners put away (did that before), cat hair blown out of the kitchen and bathroom radiators, new batteries for the thermostat, and reprogramming the thermostat. I missed a thing or two at work last week. They've agreed with a major, somewhat disgruntled customer to get a specific set of items completed by a date in early October. As a result, no more vacations are allowed until then, and we developers are not to be disturbed ( Read more... )
