Oct 23, 2011 19:17

I had a lot of time on my hands apparently, and decided to do a top-10 of my favorite Bonnie-and-magic moments. I failed, and there are 11... well, actually 14, technically but whatever. In no particular order:
let's go )

I MIGHT HAVE GOTTEN EMOTIONAL READING THIS BECAUSE BONNIE WILL ALWAYS BE MY FAVORITE AND THE REASON WHY I HELD ON SO LONG.

BUT YOU PICKED THE PERFECT OF MOMENTS AND DESCRIBED WHY THEY'RE SO WONDERFUL AND UGAKFDJA; ALL THE FEELINGS OF WHEN SHE FOUND GRAMS AND I CRIED. I CRIED WHEN IT HAPPENED DESPITE THE MUSIC CUE BECAUSE THIS SHOW IS THE WORST AT IT BUT ALSO READING YOUR THOUGHTS ABOUT IT MADE ME CRY AGAIN.

AHHHHH YAY!

YOU KNOW BONNIE IS MY HEART, MORE FOOL ME FOR SIGNING UP FOR SUCH CONSTANT TORTURE TBH.

WHEN SHE FOUND GRAMS, AND STARTED YELLING THAT SHE COULD "FIX IT" I THINK I LOST IT. Sometimes I just put it on silent when I rewatch and it still hurts my heart in the worst way!

I love this!!!

It means that when we see this character perform a spell, it’s as much about her, who she is, what she’s thinking as it is about anything else.

*Has an epiphany* I love this. I really really do because it makes me think of all the spells Bonnie performed in season 2 and how I always complained about those people using her. It also reminds me of when she channeled Luka. Over the summer I came to see that as her trying to fix her weakness. I don't know if I've ever told you this, but it was so important to her to not be weak. I think she hated that as much as she (used to) hate being in the middle. So her overconfidence in that scene where tells Damon/Stefan/Jeremy that she's got is amazing as is when she completely ignores Jeremy's plan. Because she needs to prove that she can do it. Even if magic wasn't necessary, she thought she'd found an answer to her problem. And then it all fell apart because she still wasn't strong enough, and looking at things in this light, when Stefan wakes her from the floor and she's all ( ... )

I feel like Bonnie in season 2 has two overwhelming drives: 1) to not be weak; ii) to not fail to help or fix ( ... )

As for Bonnie's morality, I've already told you the people I want her to kill. I guess I feel that if she wasn't so shackled due to the show being shackled because certain characters must live no matter what, she would have made a lot more questionable decisions (and I would be okay with that. In fact, I want it), especially when it comes to Klaus and Stefan, and even when it comes to Elena (so I guess I'm saying questionable because she would hurt the producers' favorite boys). I know it's been brought up how Elena should become a vampire or die, and I think Bonnie would have been one to talk to her about that. Not that she'd ask her to kill herself (that is still her best friend), but just having the conversation in the first place. I'm thinking here of the Bonnie who locked Elena in her own house and then later locked Jeremy and Alaric. She is not sunshine and rainbows but I feel they're trying to make her be that. This Bonnie would've smacked Elena with the truth about Stefan's serial killer ways (she felt him. She once wanted ( ... )

This Bonnie would've smacked Elena with the truth about Stefan's serial killer ways (she felt him. She once wanted nothing to do with him because she got a glimpse at his cruelty) over the summer; she would be on Klaus' ass; she'd be questioning the Original witch about what the heck is going on.So much this. The single most frustrating thing about how they're working with her is the deliberate choice to neuter her. I understand that she has become so embroiled in all of this that she's culpable of a lot of things. I understand that they don't want her to be doing spells to fix everyone's mistakes all the time. But that doesn't mean she shouldn't be reacting to this Klaus-Stefan situation in a manner that makes sense. The show's contracted Stefan the Ripper to his relationship with Elena, and perhaps Damon (but not as much, beyond Damon complaining ( ... )

I feel that's what they're doing with the Tyler Hybrid thing too as evidenced by the fact that the only person who's given their opinion on the matter is Caroline. Elena was in a scene with Tyler but she didn't say anything and then she left with a quickness. Stefan's doing scary things and Tyler's just become another species and it all boils down to how their significant other is reacting to it. Ugh. I'd apply this to the ghost problem too to a lesser extent (only because Matt is reacting to it and then Katherine/Damon got their hands on it). Neither Bonnie nor Jeremy have talked about how to get rid of the ghosts. They're either conveniently distracted by something (Bonnie with senior prank and Jeremy with getting kidnapped) or as of last episode they're talking about how it affects their relationship.

This is fantastic, brilliant, amazing, and everything I love about this character. It also makes the lack of story for her this season all the more heartbreaking.

Thank you, bb. She gives me so many feelings, Bonnie Bennett does.

Sigh, me too. And I am not the most optimistic person but I really do hope that her story picks up with You-Know-Who coming. Just fingers-crossed for us fans, I guess :/
