Even where i stand today, as a coach, or rather, as the coach you can mess around with and have fun around, its hard to stay in touch with the rest of the team. Some hard workers never get recognized just like how some front-runners get all the glory and deserve none of it.
As for working your way up and changing things when your in a position of power, much of that goes out the window as well. There were a million things i said i would never do as a coach, and a million things i said i would change about football... and i have changed nothing. As you work your way up, it becomes very easy to lose touch with who you once were, and than can be applied to the armed forces, football, or even social stance.
