I realized just now that ever since the last time one of my dishes exploded spraying flaming glass everywhere- going from being something solid in my hands into a hail that cut and burned whatever it touched... in the back of my mind is a concern that any pot or pan that gets too hot will also explode. such a silly thing to fear, I don't think that

You didn't put said glass container on top of the stove did you? For some reason pyrex/glass does not do well on top of a burner (gas or electric). That, and you can't move it from the stove to the fridge (or some place cold) right away. I'm sure you know all this, but just in case ;)

I accidently turned on the wrong burner while making some tea, and there happened to be a pyrex dish on half on... I picked it up to try to move it someplace that it wouldn't spray glass everywhere when it blew up and that was when it exploded... it's the second time it's happened to me that a pyrex dish has exploded in my presence, and lately I can't shake the feeling that soon my metal pots and pans will start blowing up also.
