Hard Drive Kaput, Everything lost. Oh noes, it couldn't happen to me, oh no, so did I back anything up? Naw. Fortunately I've posted pretty much everything I've ever written, but the pics? (some of the old Theban Band ones) and the icons, ah, crap. Gone. What an idiot.

Aw, hon, I feel your pain!

I moved all of my old fandom pics - including those a friend took of Viggo when I saw him read poetry - onto my backup USB, then deleted them all when trying to update it! Literally 7 years of fandom pics. Boo!

I guess the bright side is that it wasn't all your fiction.

*hugs*

Cripes, Gloro - I just feel so damn stupid, but yes, you certainly know how it is. I'll just have to painstakingly recreate the ones I remember and others - well I'll just have to let 'em go. And yes, I'm glad that nearly everything was posted somewhere, but my ebooks are gone - etc., geez. Just feeling mighty stupid, but live and learn, huh?

I've got lots and lots of the Theban Band ones... I can put what I have a disc and snailmail them to you.

Oh Gosh, Alex, thanks. Fortunately Kei pointed me toward a link that contains pretty much all of the ones I loved and lost. I truly do appreciate the offer - most of what I lost I think I can find again, but those were (I thought) irreplaceable.

Oh darling, I have so been there and learned the back up lesson the hard way *hugs!*

Sending you a PM with a link for Theban Band pics. Between me and Alex we can probably cover that at least. Anything else I might have?

I don't get fanatical but I copy graphics and uposted writing onto a couple of USB sticks. And I keep a back up of OneNote, because I can't afford to lose all the bits and pieces I store in there.

**hugs you**

Oh yeah, believe me, I'll probably try Carbonite or something once I've gotten my computer back. Thanks so much for the link. I think they are all there - the ones I had saved. The rest (Erbe's, etc) I know I can find elsewhere. Thanks.

Between you and me, it might not be such an awful bad thing anyway - it's good to "clean house" once in a while. At least that's the way I'm looking at it. Yep. That's it, then.

Oh, OUCH.

You might find someone to salvage your files, though. I know there are people here who specialize in it.

**hugs you**

Thanks, Min and yeah, there are probably peeps who could really delve and find the files, but the replacement of the hard drive is expensive enough. Duh. Just feel really stupid - well, live and learn. As I told Kei, I really don't think there is much that is truly irreplaceable if I looked hard enough and maybe, just maybe it was time to "clean house" anyway. At least that's the way I'm choosing to look at it. Thanks for your commiseration.

That is one of my biggest fears. I need to get one of those external backup things, but I never have the money.

I hope you manage to get much of it back.

Gah. Thanks, Minx. I DO feel pretty darn dumb, and it's a cautionary tale to be sure. I'm sure I'll survive.
