The beauty of the statement "no offense, but" is the fact that whatever follows the "but" is most likely going to hit the target as far as being offensive. It may even be more offensive IN TANDEM with the rest of it. What may have only been perceived as offensive may be twice as much so because it seems like a premeditated move.
