do you have a deadline for this? b/c I would love to do it, just don't have that much time on my hands right now! (I'm referring to the make a cd and mail it to you)
You know what... deadline would be self-enforced. Some people have all the stuff handy... some people want to just work on it at their leisure. It is all cool with me. You see, I think this is a neat thing to have. How many times have you thought back to a certain time and a few "certain songs" have taken you back to that time almost as effectively as a teletransport system on Star Trek could. I know it happens to me. Some songs are forever tainted and I want to throw my CDs out windows as a result.
Ok I've got the disk made...gryffudSeptember 21 2004, 22:12:05 UTC
now you just have to tell me where to send it.
I've been making these "life soundtrack" disks for years now, and sending them to a few select friends and/or relatives who say they don't mind. They're sort of aural State of the Union thingies or, psychological/emotional snapshots. I can listen to an old disk from years back and know exactly what was going on when I made it.
Part of me wants to go all demagoguey about the who and what of each song, but the other part says just listen dammit, and see what happens.
Awesome idea, and one that I may borrow, if you don't mind :)
My current soundtrack:
"Deja Vu" - Something for Kate "Emerald" - The Tea Party "Absolution" - Muse "Running Up That Hill" - Placebo "Stargazer" - The Tea Party "Out of This World" - Bush "Out Here in the Cold" - Gotye "Gorecki" - Lamb "Crucified" - Tori Amos
NEAT! I have an idea of the vibe of this compilation already. Yes, feel free to spread the idea around. I think it would be pretty neat to get a personal expression of what someone's ears are enjoying while they are driving around, working, etc. on a daily basis right now.

We are unique just like everyone else.enoelieSeptember 22 2004, 10:01:19 UTC
You know I didn't see anything terribly offensive about the tracks you listed. They may not be what I have on my playlist the way I doubt *any* of my tracks are on your compilation.
And don't you doubt my respect for Mike there. ;-) I saw him in concert too... in a white suit no less.

Mike Patton rocks. But the first FNM record: Introduce Yourself is very different. It has a sort of "skate" flavor to it. The were raw and fun.
Anyway, this listing is the high school days. The grunge days eh? I mellowed out during college and into my "adult" years. A good band I like now is Bows (from the UK).
I bet your listing would have to include a BTE song and maybe 3rd Eye, or perhaps a little James?
Omg, that icon! They're all beautiful, but I don't think it's possible to do any better than this one. You need to start getting paid to do that - a professional icon-maker - because you have mastered the art form.
