First Ever Surgery!

Okay,so it was only wisdom teeth removal surgery, but still..I just finished my first ever surgery! I was nervous going in, but the dental assistants were really nice and put me at ease. The lady that put in the IV was excellent, with no problems despite my horribly hard to find veins. I only saw the doctor himself for a few minutes, but he was a ( Read more... )

I didn't even know you had a housemate! He definitely sounds like a very kind and thoughtful person. My thoughts on thank-you gifts: you could take him out to a nice dinner (most people like food), tickets to a concert could also be good if there's something in town that you know he likes, and I always recommend these: http://www.squishable.com/

It sounds like the surgery went pretty well! I got dry sockets when my wisdom teeth were removed, but that's a fairly minor thing and the dentist office was able to give me some stuff for it right away.

Good luck! I hope you have a speedy recovery!

Yeah, James moved in when I bought my house. We both like to conserve energy, so we agree on leaving the heat low in winter, having CFLs and LEDs for the lights, and NOT having a clothes dryer. He takes care of my cats when I go up to Montana for the summer and doesn't mind my mess of mail on the table. Plus we have different work schedules, so when I'm home in the afternoon/evening he's at work, and I'm at work for the morning/early afternoon when he's home. It's like having the house to ourselves every day except Saturday (which we both have off). All in all, a pretty perfect housemate setup. It's worked for the last three years, anyway.

How did you meet him? Did you do a Craig's List roommate search or something like that?

Exactly! I listed my new house in the rooms/shared section and James responded. Actually, only James and one other person responded, plus one scammer. I think most people were put off by the lack of amenities like a dishwasher or clothes dryer. I was very up front about what was not in the house and posted lots of pictures of the depressing emptiness that was my house before I moved in. But still, both of us were extremely lucky, considering all the horror stories you hear about Cragslist.
