The Little House on the Prairie books do that for me. Ever since I was a kid I was fascinated by food. I particularly love reading about their cuisine back then. I even went as far as going out to buy a turnip and cooking it to taste what mashed turnips were like. Yeah, I could do without that one.

Ha, I'm getting deja vu...I think we must have discussed this a couple years ago. But yes, I got that with The Little House on the Prairie books (although I have to admit right now they do feel a bit too much like children's books to me), and I'm getting hungry reading this series now too. I've never had a plum pudding, but I imagine it would be quite good and really want one now. I also want lemon biscuits (similarly unknown to me) and chicken pie and a lot of other things. Ha. It would be really cute someday if I had an Anne of Green Gables series cooking event and made a lot of food from the series. You could do that with The Little House on the Prairie...just not with mashed turnips. :P

NO! Plum pudding????? I want to try that, too! Or Figgy pudding, in that Christmas song? And I want to try the Plum cake Amelie made in the movie.

They are very nice - even now I can read them without feeling like they're meant for children. And the writing really is very pretty!
