This is by no means exhaustive, and it's not listed in any kind of order, but it's a start ( Read more... )

You are more than welcome to come hang in Maine for a week. The house is available all summer, and I'll most likely be there July-August. At least that's the plan. Let me know when you want to come up.

YES YES YES.

I highly recommend On the Road. :)

I would also like to read more C.S. Lewis. And I'm getting rather interested in this hype over The Golden Compass.

Thanks for adding that overachiever part in there. ;)

Heyyy OA!
Why don't you tack Harry Potter on to that list? Bahaha.
Seriously...have you read Mitch Albom's works? I think you'd really like them if you haven't yet.

Hello Chris,

I read your post and thought I should chime in.

I noticed a somewhat Christian theme to your list.

Here is my suggestion,

“The End of The Affair” by Graham Greene. Greene, despite his objections, is largely considered to be a catholic writer because of the themes in both his books and short stories.

This book is interesting both in structure and in subject. It’s told from two different perspectives. It also largely deals with the concept of faith. I assure you, it isn’t a cheesy romance novel as the title suggests.

Also if you wish to add some books that do not have a Christian theme, here are a few;

The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini
The Fountainhead by Ayn Rand
Water for Elephants by Sara Gruen

I hope you enjoy,

J
