Mutual Friend PM found a coffee table at a second-hand furniture store in Seattle, the same one where her spouse bought the Slab O' Desk. It is the '70s rendered in wood. P. likes to read to me from a blog called Lowering The Bar: the author has come to the conclusion that most criminals have all the brains of a bag of hammers, and supports it with stories from the week's news. There's a regular feature called "Assorted Stupidity #xx"; I might encourage P. to forward this along.

So many criminals are just too arrogant to see their own stupidity, I guess!

All I can remember of 1970s design are those orange bucket chairs that were everywhere, and big, clunky "Early American" furniture, like the wood-framed couches with brown and gold plaid cushions. *shudder* MCM is much prettier.

One of the regular features of that blog is on escapes by water, and how generally they do not end well for the person attempting them (mostly "if they can see you, they just have to wait for you to get tired").

My parents had those couches. *g* The table is certainly chunky - several people have said "That's a table for a wake!", which is not the vibe I would be going for, me, but she loves it - and she teased me about the one I liked being described as "sexy", words which would never be used about hers, and that driving the price up. *laughing*
