Oh, look, steam

The sun is out; it is disconcerting to see clouds of white billowing up past the windows until I remember "Right, wood siding, it's drying". Now that all of the blinds are up, it's easy to see where I've not been as thorough while dusting. :P ( Read more... )

Great news about Disney! That dogsitter must have been frantic.

"Beside themselves" was apparently the best description. DS was very polite but firm about not accepting money as a reward for being a decent human being, suggesting that they might give it to the vet's office instead, as they wouldn't take any from him.

I'm glad that Disney's humans were found. Poor pup being scared like that...and she was very lucky not to have been hit by a car or somesuch awful thing.

Hmmm...I may need to do the same to our kettle. Limescale does build up even on stainless steel or maybe that's especially on stainless.

Having mapped out her most likely route? Yes, Disney was extremely lucky: even if she mostly kept to people's gardens, to get to DS's office she had to cross some of the most travelled roads in downtown Bellevue. For a Boston terrier, that is quite scary - no wonder her nails were in a state!

I really like these tablets; I bought them to clean out a big stainless Hydroflask (I think the previous owners might have been storing kombucha in it? Whatever it was, WOW) and after seeing and smelling the improvement, had a rush of brains to the head and dropped one in the kettle.

Well done on getting your kettle back up and running! So satisfying to do something like that!

Awww Disney the dog was very lucky!

At one point P. asked if I had unplugged the base first; he came away from that unscathed, but it was a very near thing. You're right about it being satisfying, especially as the cotton swabs come back grotty.

I'm still trying to work out how on Earth she made her way to the office, but we are all glad that she is safely back with her humans!

Hooray for dog+human reunions! I love it when stories have a happy ending.

So glad you were able to clean up the kettle and fix it. Nothing worse than a coffee pot or tea kettle going kaput when you're ready for that morning cuppa.

I am not generally one for social media, but it has its moments.

Heating water in the microwave - well, it gets you hot water! What works for the herbal tea P. drinks of a morning isn't hot enough for the black tea I need; as funny as it would be to stand there with the Thermopen dipping it in and out of the beaker, it would get old very quickly.
