Just a quick note to say

- if you've seen the news about the tsunami alert for the Pacific Coast, we're fine: Bainbridge (and Puget Sound) are far enough inland that we're not in the advisory zone. Neither is Fidalgo Island, though Whidbey and the San Juans are, something to bear in mind going forward ( Read more... )

Glad you're okay! I asked my friends in San Diego to let me know if their tsunami alert resulted in anything scary or strange, and apparently it didn't.

I remember only one very thick fog, years ago, when I was driving down my street and couldn't find my apartment building. Stay safe!

I think everyone took it as a good time to practice, if nothing else!

The fog finally cleared, but it's still gray and wearying. I'm inside with the lights tuned to warm colors and energetic music.

I'm glad you're all right. :) I saw the news about the volcano and tsunami warning well after the fact, and I assumed you were fine, knowing you're a bit more inland, plus there was no news about anything hitting the PNW. I feel for the people of Tonga, though. I saw a news story that Pita Taufatofua (the Olympian of the shirtless entrance fame) father may be missing.

Oh, yes, we're all right - this was more of a "Hey, I know the news said 'Pacific Coast', but we're good" heads-up. :D

NOOOOOOOOOOO, not him!

Yeah, we were fine - up in the Orcas some live-aboards in the marinas got bounced around a bit, but it was good to see that everyone took it seriously and stayed off the beaches.

I did think of you when I read it - then decided you were probably well enough sheltered. I'm glad to hear I was right!

Yes, we're far enough in and down from the most likely movement of the wave that we didn't see any effects. But people were quite sensible about it and came in off the water/stayed away from the shore, which pleased me. Better to regard alerts with the respect they're due and NOT be scrambling!
