Other people's children

Before diving into the day's busy work, take a moment to muse on the question "What exactly was the reasoning behind this?" Yes, that is only a packing strap holding the vehicle in place. An article in the Seattle Times goes on to say that the driver's license wasn't valid and the U-Haul was well out of its rental period, which is really not that ( Read more... )

As for the vehicle in the U Haul - good grief!

We seem to have had summer in April :(

Being a notary is a very useful thing - and a nice extra earner a well :)

We are only halfway through the month and we're well over the usual rainfall for the whole of May, drenching due to resume Wednesday.

I wonder if his employer would be willing to help with putting up the surety bond? *looks thoughtful*

A vehicle in a U-Haul held in place by just a luggage strap??? The mind boggles...

We now have summer to give away. Anybody want some 30ºC + temps? It will be up to 37 next week.

One might think that realtors should know their business but...

My reaction was pretty much "NOPE!"

You could send me a little warmth? I'd trade you some rain, happily. Let us dry out a bit . . . .

I am awfully surprised that no one caught it!

Do most people rent rather than buying their own place in your area? The agreements seem a bit casual …

The requirements are quite clearly spelled out in law, it's that a lot of private landlords aren't at all familiar with it, and the market's so tight that a lot of folks wanting to rent are willing to put up with it to get into something. This is part of why it's so odd for P. and I to be in a position to say "We both need to be wowed to put up with the fuss of moving"; our landlords are happy to have us stay longer, the rent would only go up 3% - they were very apologetic about it, but the HOA fees keep jumping - and as people with iffy joints and grown-up furniture, it's not going to be a "get friends 'round who can be bribed with pizza and beer" sort of move.

*stares at the SUV in a UHaul*

If I came up on that on the highway, I would very likely break the speed limit to pass him, and I doubt any officer would give me a ticket for doing so! LOL Good grief.

I think that's how lease law works in Missouri, too. Anything longer than month to month has to be formalized in a contract with proper deposits and notifications, etc etc. Otherwise, it's all handshake and a promise territory, I guess.

Why was that the choice, instead of paying extra to have a trailer hitch put on the back of a bigger truck? What was the reasoning behind it? I'm just so curious.
