I always say I'm busy.  Its usually really true.  But now is the busy season, when things just pile one on top of the other without stopping for about three weeks.  Its great on some levels, there is a lot of energy and a sense that we are creating the final memories of an amazing year, the ones we will think back on fondly for years to come.  Its ( Read more... )

Yesterday evening I attended a concert of "The Tallis Scholars" singing early polyphony by Tallis (obviously), Tye, Taverner, Palestrina, and my new favorite, Phillipe de Monte. He's Flemish, which aligatori finds amusing. The music was heavenly, I really think that lush chromaticism and those long intricate melismas must be how angels sing. It ( Read more... )
