If they know what's good for them, they'll just let Han, Luke, and Leia die of old age sometime in the interim between the LOTF series and the Legacy comic. There'll be a huge uproar if they kill off Luke, though the title and the cover are suggestive, and we know it's the kind of thing he'd do to save any member of his family.

There's only 3" on this side of town, but it's so icy. I hiked to work with Yak Trax on my shoes. Busy day in the ER despite the weather, although almost everyone was arriving by ambulance. Most of the staff is staying overnight, which makes me very glad I'm close enough to walk. And now I'm warm and snuggled at home, happily watching ST Voyager. It's nice to see that after a several-year absence. And I never watched Enterprise so I'm catching up with that too.
For me, Luke is Star WarsmlgmJanuary 16 2007, 16:13:03 UTC
Luke is the character that keeps me emotionally invested in Star Wars. Vader/Anakin fascinates me, Leia was one of the first "no damsel in distress here" heroines, R2 amuses me, and Obi-Wan is a close second; but it's Luke that keeps me coming back.
I thought the Legacy comics had the right idea - move the story into the future past the time of Luke, Leia, etc. - but didn't take it far enough. Having everything The Big Three work for fall apart in a 100 years or so just leaves a bad taste.
As someone who was a Young Indiana Jones fan, and who loved the Clone Wars, I'm looking forward to the upcoming Star Wars TV shows. I just wish Lucas would do one set after RoTJ. I'd like to see his take on what happens to the Skywalker Twins, Han, and the rest.

Yes, it's Luke who keeps me invested too. You're so right about everything falling apart for the Big Three. What was the point of going through (writing) setting up a republic just to have it ripped apart again? I'm very tired of these wars the books focus on. I realize that they're aiming for a male audience, but I think males would enjoy reading something other than endless battles as much as I do. It's a little insulting to the EU audience to basically re-issue the same book over and over-- different enemies, same plot. War, war, war.

And we're joining you here in the snowstorm department. I think I have 4-5" at my house.
