We're home and safe, thank goodness.

Burning Man was an extremely trying experience for me and Leah.  The good parts were amazing -- the art was indescribably incredible, I made wonderful new friendships with great people, and the sheer scale of the thing was amazing.  Forty thousand people came this year! Words fail me to describe the scope and ( Read more... )

Thanks for the post, good to hear from you. I'm glad you're both back safe and sound, and had a good time despite the obviously negative aspects of the trip.

Perhaps we'll see you at the cottage next year...

I'm glad you're home okay, and weren't hurt in the accident! I'm pretty sure there is no kind of vacation that has more potential to go wrong than camping, especially in such a harsh environment. I hope that a nice hot bath and the comfort of being at home will make you feel a bit better about things.

Yikes, what a harrowing experience to have happen to you so early on in the week! It's understandable that hitchhiking back to Reno and catching a plane home sounded so appealing. I'm proud of you for sticking it out and gleaning what wonderfulness you could from the experience. Friendships made on the playa grow strong under the conditions, and you can count on those lasting well into the future, should my experience be anything like yours.
We are in Sitka today and reading your story made me feel less sad that we didn't come, but I still wish I had been out there with you, securing tents and putting water out and about for showers and such. Know that we love you muchly, and I look forward to seeing that you are ok in person when we get back!
