I have completed my first semester of teaching.  I'm still alive!  I am excited because I am taking a personal day off tomorrow to see a friend of my from high school.  Teaching is fun.  I am getting better at staying cool.  I still slip up a bit and get into ludicrous arguments with children, but I'm improving.

I've accepted a job as a math teacher at William Wirt middle school.  Starting this Monday, I will be a math teacher for 7th and 8th graders.  I got this weekend to set up a classroom and get up to speed.  If you stick around, you might just witness me shit bricks and build a house.

I saw "Barnyard" last night.  The design of the characters, the animation, the design of the setting were spectacular!  I love the style of it all.  Typically, when the technical side of an animated movie like this is put together wonderfully, the story/script doesn't seem to get as much attention.  Evidence of this effect was present in this movie ( Read more... )

I am currently reading Frederik Pohl's "The Voices of Heaven".  Pohl's main characters ususally have some sort of mental disorder leading to neurotic or self concious protagonists.  This what I look for in Science Fiction:  Physically moving OUT into outer space, but mentally focusing IN on what makes us humans behave like we do.
