I went to the new Liquor Store at King and William this morning. It's gigantic! The main lesson I learned from the shopping experience is that the Ontario government really really wants me to drink whiskey. I don't like whiskey, so they're out of luck, but I was impressed by the horribly in your face marketing scheme showing good looking people

apparently the whole whiskey thing was really big in Scotland a few years ago...the whiskey makers union (whatever it's called) didn't like the fact that whiskey was an old man's drink and tried to make it "hip" and "cool" and all those things that old people say when they want young people to listen. It was a huge flop and nothing changed.

Hooray for alternative export markets. I say we illegalize genetically modified foods, then explore the European food markets. Of course, we have a lot of competitors in that regard, but if the "assistance" that the UN, World Bank, and the States provides continues to require adoption of gm seeds, we're gold. Of course, they'll all end up screwed...

And by they, I mean all those countries which require assistance (or which don't, but are having it forced upon them by those who see only one way of running a country)
So far as I know, the only organization requiring the import of GMOs is the World Trade Organization. In terms of worldwide lobbying for their acceptance, unfortunately, Canada is just as bad as the US, if not worse. I say this because we are the ringleaders for reintroducing vGURT (the varietal rather than trait specific version of Terminator) under the Convention for Biological Diversity. The US is not a signatory and so Canada is the ringleader in its absence. Sigh.
