A shrill beep broke through the short silence following his words, and made them all jump. Well, everyone but Uhura. It seemed to have emanated from a computer-like thing on the desk nearby, something on the screen flashing, and Karl was the first up and over to inspect it. "A communication request. He made an indecipherable little hand gesture, and mustered up all force of will not to blush again.

Chris looked back at Karl, unable to help coloring a little. "No, go ahead," he told him. "I don't mind waiting. I'll just straighten up some out here." There were still a few things scattered on the floor - two pair of boots, and what looked suspiciously like a pair of boxers over by the wall. Overall it wasn't any messier than his own apartment, though.

Nyota fell silent as they walked back, occasionally nodding to someone in passing but otherwise going over everything in her mind. She wondered where Spock was, and if the three of them had made contact yet.
