Brilliant! I loved this so much. :) Thank you for a really good story and some excellent characterisation. I hope very much that you'll continue this arc with more stories. There's Nina to consider too, and what the vampires and the scientists do next, and I think Mark isn't finished with them yet, is he? *rubs hands in anticipation*
Thank you, I'm so glad it didn't prove a disappointment. I have quite deliberately tried not to tie up too many loose ends, and you never know what I might be able to do if I get time over the next month.
I know, even though I finished this days ago, it ws really tempting to try and string it out a bit - but it does have a beginning, middle and end as a story, which is what I wanted.
I've got some ideas for more, but we'll have to see! Thank you for the positive reviews :D
wow, that really was utterly fabulous. the whole thing has been so well written and so in character... i absolutely love it. and there must be a continuation...? :D (sorry. i'll stop being unsubtle and just enjoy these wonderful nine chapters as they are.) amazing!!
The nine chapters stand alone for now, but I might do another 'episode' (I sort of had this in mind as a first episode, introducing a new threat and changing the dynamic between the OT3)
Thank you so much for this fic, Eru. I have loved it from beginning to end. I loved your description of Mitchell's confusion during the fight: being distracted from his urgent need to free Annie by the smell of blood, and that he was so angry that he didn't even realise what he had done until he had finished, so overcome by righteous fury and bloodlust. I loved Annie's admonishment to him: “I don’t want us to be the reason you do things like that, I wanted us to be the reason you *don't*.”
That does, I think sum up the trio's commitment to each other.
I liked that the ending leaves so many possibilities open for the characters, and I can't help hoping that you'll be inspired to write a sequel very soon. You've got George and Nina, Annie and Mitchell, and a sociopathic professor still to play with, not forgetting the redoubtable Reverend Mark, and of course those funky vampires - they're not gonna let Mitchell desert them so easily. So, I shall look forward to more! Much love and admiration Helen
Oh, you are so welcome, and your help at the beginning was really invaluable (not least because it's helped me with some original manuscripts of mine).
Yes, I think that line sums up what binds them together, despite everything. It's also what I think would be key to any Annie/Mitchell on screen developments, it's real Yin Yang stuff - he awakens things in her that lead to both light and darkness, and she does the same for him. I mean, Mitchell's whole thing is that he wants something pure and good (ANNIE!!) but he's still a monster inside.
And yes, I'd left Nina hanging because it was just too much to tie up in the space I'd given myself. It's for another episode, I think.
Argh, so many other ideas swirling around in my head! Once I get them in some kind of order, I'll probably get around to writing them down, too. :D
