i realize it wasn't half bad. i talked on the phone with my mom today for really the first time since i came to france - i wasn't even expecting to hear from my folks because they don't do the birthday celebration thing, and i received an ecard from them saying "Hope you're doing well and that French is becoming second nature. Love, Mom and Dad"
