Re-evaluation: The problems I have been experiencing come not from outside of me, but from within. To attribute any form of suffering to a source other than oneself, in my humble opinion, seems irresponsible. Therefor, it's not the job which causes me distress, it is how I percieve my job. you have to enjoy the economical yoke that tends to press upon labor unsuited to our morals and preferences. You don't wish to indulge customers into a habit that leads to distruction. It would be nice if you could see an indicator or some sort of chart indicating intent for drinking. Social drinkers could be served while those indicating a desire to fullfill a void via a chemical depedency would be cut off or rather given a glass of soda.

i met a couple girls in massage school who had wanted to change what they were doing, didn't feel that bar tending / serving alcohol was good. wanted to heal instead of help cause damage. but really, it is their choice, the customers, and you're not even the source, as you said, the restaurant is the source. the alcohol makers are the source. you're the transportation, true, but your intent is not to harm.
yippee for india. i'm happy for you, and a litle jealous. :o)
watch the trees carefully. they're changing, they're just being sneaky.
