Whilst you may like him, I'd wait until the nominating process is over to get too worked up. SUP has set up a BS process that pretty much eliminates anyone who can't mobilize several hundred people in a very short period of time. If your friend doesn't already have at least 500 nominations, he's not even in the running, much less on the short list. Add to that the BS requirement that anyone selected has to be able to fly to Constantinople on their own dime at least twice a year, and you can understand why a lot of us on the West Coast have already dismissed the whole thing as meaningless.

It is a meaningless process but he's been such an amazing friend to everyone why not nominate him than some other person type thing then at least I know my vote is going somewhere good?

Oh, I'm not saying not to nominate him. I agree with that. I was just making sure you were not thinking it was a meaningful process. I expect some popular slash writer and a furry activist will get selected as the two English speakers members, and will quickly learn to play go along to get along once they see the committee is a stacked deck. I, however, plan to support people who will make a lot of noise, and will let SUP know that elected or not, they will be a thorn in SUP's side.

I'm the friend and the only thing I would say is that it states clearly on the information:

"Logistics
...LiveJournal will reimburse all travel or related expenses and offer an honorarium, which may be paid directly to the member or to a charity of his or her choosing.

As far as the nominations go I currently have 24, but I only need 100 to be come a candidate. I do slightly agree with you about the shortness of the time period that the election is running over, but maybe if I'm voted onto the board I can do something around this next time. I'm also considering whether I should raise that we have at least one member from each continent or country if we can get it.

Either way, I'd welcome another nomination if you feel able.

Just go to http://community.livejournal.com/lj_election_en/21692.html?view=1762492#t1762492 and it should be fairly obvious. I think each person can only nominate me once, but feel free to badger others to nominate me if you feel up to it.
