They do that thing where they make you want to stay still and see what the music does when it goes through you.

YES. There is that crowd shot and you see the dude who has his fist in his hair and his mouth is open and you can tell he is just like, overwhelmed with FEELINGS and that is The National for me.

And the lyrics! Start a War, Sorrow and Lemonworld killed me dead when I first heard them. Which is not to say I don't love every one of their songs, and sometimes wonder whether I made them up and I'm just hallucinating a band that can coax such reactions from me. The Take-Away Show version of Start a War was the first time I heard (of) them... and I think I'll go write a lengthy entry about them, because I can't cut this comment short otherwise. So much love for them!!

Nawwwwwwww, the cutest! I think their hijinx would've spawned a much more beautiful bandom than the one where Brendon is a giant asshole now. :/
