Falling Apart

Jul 01, 2010 19:03

You know what?  I'm quite tired of pretending that everything's okay.  It isn't.  I'm literally falling apart from the inside out.  In the nine weeks since Tobie was born I've had the following procedures:
  • Upper endoscopy (EGD)
  • ERCP (endoscopic surgery)
  • Echocardiogram
  • Gastric Emptying Study (eating a radioactive egg)
  • Head CT Scan

medical, health

Here I am, another friend who's indignant on your behalf. Seriously Karen, I came close to dropping the F-bomb in front of my kids when I read your FB update. I mean fercryinoutloud! ENOUGH I say!

I'm so sorry you and the family have to go through this...

the worst part was I *was* going to call and ask what you're up to tomorrow b/c I am nannyless and wanted to get the kids out of the house. But now I will be otherwise engaged. Sigh.

Much, much sympathy and many hugs. I don't quite know how you keep going; I have enough trouble with one kickass medical problem. I hope the surgery goes smoothly -- you deserve for something to go smoothly for a change!

I guess I keep going because I haven't been given much of a choice. But I'm not doing so willingly nor gracefully.

I don't blame you. I'd be kicking and screaming in your position. Or maybe not because that uses up too much energy.

I had an abscess dealt with about a month back although in a somewhat less sensitive location (back of my neck, still sensitive, but not nearly in the same ball park). In any case, I had it done twice in 3 days (idiots) and it is not as bad as I feared. It also healed quite quickly (relatively).

Wishing you a hurry refuah sheleima.

ooops, should add, it sounds like for me the abcess was about the same size as your bump. It was about 2 inches wide and 4 inches long. About an inch high or more. Totally sucks1

The issue I'm worried about is that I'm breastfeeding, which potentially means a painful recovery as I imagine it will be difficult to keep her paws off it. I'm also concerned about preserving the milk ducts through the surgery to the greatest extent possible.

The mass in mt breast goes all the way through to the bottom of my breast (it starts on the very top). It's ridiculous.
