( .032 ) Some rants

Nov 20, 2010 13:02

I passed the first selection of German Olympiad - Provincial Level. Quite proud about it, considering how many students have prepared better than me. I did a few mistakes in listening and also answered one wrong in the reading part, but thankfully my writing comes in helpful and boosts my points. I'll try to be more careful next time. I'm just ( Read more... )

Well actually, I also tweeted some with English in the same reason as yours because there are some non-Indonesian friends following me. Though sometimes, I get used to talk with English even with Indonesian friends. But, if they do want me to talk with Indonesian then sure- I mean, I've met some of my LJ friends in RL and even though we used to talk with English via LJ/MSN/SMS etc. But in the end we ended up talking with Indonesian. And also I, myself, somehow annoyed by people who always talk with English but they didn't realized how horrible their English is. Well yes, mine is not good either, that's why I sometimes prefer to talk it in Indonesian;; Okay I should stop telling stories D: The point is, just ignore him. Or if you need to talk to him just talk with Indonesian, and if he keeps talking with English just reply it with Indonesian, maybe he'll start using Indonesian by then ( ... )

I do that too. Even now I use English to talk to you, don't I? But then as I stated, I don't make it a big fuss. As long as I'm able to understand what you're trying to imply, then it's fine by me... I guess. The point is, we have a back-to-back communication and we get what each other wants to say. That is♥

Yep! That's why I think Indonesian curriculum on English subject should be revamped. In my opinion, the English taught in here is still faaaaaaaaar away from real English taught in other countries, which now forces me to learn the real English. At least now I get a better basic knowledge of English, though it's still far from perfect too.

I have tried that way, but he kept being ignorant. It feels funny though when I write in Indonesian and he replied with English lol. Oh well, I guess I can just stay away from him for the moment.

That's exactly what I want to put--being majority doesn't mean you can feel superior over the minorities. Sometimes I just lose faith on this kind of people.

And thaaaanks! o/

Best of luck for the second selection!

English is indeed important, but I see no reason why would people call other people things due to the choice of language. :/

Same thing for the religion thing. I wish that discrimination doesn't exist, but deep in my heart, it can never be eliminated.

Thanks!♥

Yep. But people here are mostly like that--they have short temper and get butthurt easily. You wouldn't be so surprised if you lived here anyway. :/

It'll never cease, I know, but I just wish that it would slowly decrease. I can's stand discrimination.

I don't think there's anything wrong in preferring to speak your native language. I feel like it would get exhausting, after a while, speaking a second language, and it's kind of sad he feels Indonesian isn't ~cool~ enough. It sounds like he was just trying to show off his English skills, though, and was pissed that you weren't impressed.

Trying to forbid Catholics from publicly displaying their faith is definitely discriminatory, though :/ I feel like whatever other people believe shouldn't affect you, and you shouldn't make it your business because honestly, it's not. fff

Yes, many people here (especially teenagers) find Indonesian as a boring language. Sometimes I wonder, have they lost their national pride.

It's not and it will never be. I hate how religion conflicts happen more than often in this place. Even in school. :/ Some people have gone insane.

I still don't understand that person. I mean, what's wrong with using Indonesian? It's like me and sjou: We're both Germans and sometimes we just use our language to communicate with each other. So why can't that person use Indonesian when it's your first language? ahagasjajkal and then calling you stuff because you politely asked him... >: there are some really, really strange people in this world.

And you teachers seem to be another great example :C what the heck is wrong with pluralism? I mean, we all have our own thoughts and minds and believes - why can't everyone accept that? (I guess I expect too much from certain people u_u). Well, I think it's wrong to forbid them to wear stuff like cross necklaces and all.

And GOOD LUCK FOR THE SECOND SELECTION ♥♥♥

Then again, our first language exists for a reason. If this matter continues even worse, I'm afraid our language will extinct some time in the future. :C Exaggerating, I know, but...

Sadly most of them are religion teachers. Well, to be honest actually I never like most religion teachers. Sometimes they can say mean and batshit things about other religions and start putting some doctrines to us. At some points they can be really extreme on what they believe which makes them look... sorry, stupid to me. It seems to me that they're like one of those extremists in anarchist organizations. Sigh.

I'm thankful though that the teachers of my favorite subjects are tolerant people♥

And thanks! I'll do my best and ahhhh♥
