Love your dog description :-) Snowing all day here too, but up until now mixed with rain or melting on impact. Heavier now though, and beginning to settle...
Thank you. Dog is quite intelligent. Whenever she walks past my house (every day when Jo walks her) she veers off the path towards my front door, hoping to come for a visit. When she does, she has a quick patrol round the ground floor, (house is same layout as Jo's) including a very polite inspection of the kitchen, then comes and joins us and settles down. She's just checking all is well, I think. How is your friend's dog, Eric, the one that was mistreated and now has the run of a chateau? Hope has been re-habilitated etc.

Friend's dog! Massive great lump of a golden retriever and full of himself. Also half fills the flat when he comes, always plonked down, blocking passageway so you fall over him. He seems intelligent enough to get himself food and that's about all there is in that great lolling, slobbering head of his. Otherwise he's in great form. And one has to laugh.

He sounds wonderful; am glad he has found a good home. He sounds like Jake, who comes into the pub a lot, with Denis, his minder. Jake also a retriever and he is very affectionate. Pat him on the head and smile at him and he comes and leans agianst you(heavily -weighs 8 and a half stone - half stone more than me- he would probably make a nice coat for me, one day, in the fullness of time- but Denis says he going to get him stuffed after he expires ). Dogs are great! Oh and re the Roman Colchester- there's also an arena - no amphitheatre but alleged one of the largest arenas outside southern Europe.. discovered a couple of years ago, I think on part of the army land ('former Garrison site') now being developed...
