You've really picked a beautiful spot. Congratulations! Love the weatherboard house front; is it all wood?
I hardly remember Wivenhoe, although I often visited (many years ago) a fellow potter there, John Dan.

Thanks! I'm pretty thrilled - keep wandering round with big smile on face.Difficult to come to work! The front is weatherboard, wooden, also wooden window frames, except for some french doors at back, from dining room. the marshy mudflat view is what I can see from front window, and I keep my bird book on windowsill. had some advice from friend re the weatherboarding and planning re-paint next spring. Only about a dozen or so new houses (of different and reasonably sympathetic design) along waterside where I am, and beyond and opposite is all site of SSI- because of the grasshopper warbler et al, I suspect, so will stay as it is. Also is tidal barrage at wivenhoe, so as long as someone remembers to put it up, shouldn't get any flooding. Wivenhoe is alleged an 'artistic community' so will look out for any evidence of John Dan pottery next time there and report back. There is a 'ferry' - a motorboat- from Rowhedge to wivenhoe in the afternoons on summer weekends, so will probably have a mooch over soon.
