EXAMPLE
thesis: drugs are bad.

instead of just talking about how drugs can kill you, you can talk about how ppl aren't using drugs and how their lives are much better without any drugs.

THAT is what he meant. not to contradict, but to bring up the other side and to say how is it wrong.
