Winter's Evening Freedom
I started a new job this month. It's my first full-time job since I went freelance in 2004, and my first "9-to-5" since I left Ireland in 1994. It's not literally a 9-to-5 job, but it is a job that I only have to do while I'm at the office. For the first time in 17 years, my evenings and weekends are my own. Seven Years!
I did my first Live Journal post seven years ago. I was in Ireland for Christmas, my parents still lived in the house I grew up in, I was a teacher working full-time in Poland, and I'd just gotten off the neuro-medication that I'd been taking since the injury in '98. Christmas 2008, and a new short story
Christmas 2008 was a very tough time for me. Within the space of four weeks, I took hit after hit, from losing my job to being rejected by several people who were very close to me.
