And thus began the fight for my backyard

May 13, 2012 00:09

For about a year ago we bought, what I would call, my dream house. It was not big, but it is located in a very cute area, with the best neighbours I could ask for, and best of all; the big grand forest is just on my door step. Out of my kitchen window I got the untouched beauty of the forest and wild-life. Out in the forest I got my quiet sanctuary ( Read more... )

We were notified about an application for regulation changes, but it was different than what we were shown now. As I wrote in reply to Sayh, original application was for 60 new houses and was not going to affect so much here. What happened in between I have no idea about, because now we were shown an approval for 150 new houses that would take over the area behind here completely. I think we should have got to know about that, as we are property owners here, after all.

Personally the value of my house do not matter so much, as long as I can keep forest connected to my property, in the very least... I need it, because I go nuts with people all around me and nowhere to escape to. It distress me and make me want to escape. It was pretty much the only reason we bought this house. >_<

Though, if we need to move, a lower house value would not really be helping. Hopefully it might not affect value so much.

That's terrible! I would be furious if they began to impose onto my lands like that.

What I don't understand is that the people who are calling you greedy do not understand that the area you considered haven is being destroyed, forever. Plus the pathway to the lake is also being destroyed. Well, at least when that whole area is under construction.

I wish you luck on your fight for space. It's not fair to see that they would do this to your dream home. :(

Yeah, I would not mind sharing my haven, as it is plenty of space, but having my haven destroyed so someone else can get their haven, it feels unfair. :(

*hugs* Thank you, FW. <3 We in the neighbourhood will try to work something out. In the very least make them keep more to the original building plans, which would leave us plenty of space and not ruin the forest path nor change our view from our property, and would even leave my sanctuary untouched. But at least we got someone in the neighbourhood who will take care of this, so I will just wait and see what happens.

So beautiful.. I'm really sad to hear that they may be desecrating some of that beauty :(

These situations are very sad, but of course, very common. You can just look at development maps of any area and find situations where many people must have felt exactly like you do ( ... )

I am not going to make an unreasonable fight about this, and certainly not going to make a bad neighbours for whoever move here, as they are not the ones responsible for this. The first step we, as neighbourhood, are going to do is to check up the opinions in our Borettslag, and then eventually file an official complaint. From what I gather, all in our "styre" for borettslaget are against the new plans. We can probably not stop the new housing plans, but we can at least request some space between our houses and the new houses so they would not entirely encircle us, according to what was indicated in the original plans. I do not think that is unreasonable ( ... )

Our area is a very calm area, until some teens decide to spend the entire night at the skate board ramp, or take their motorbikes for a "spin" around the school area ( ... )

Greedy builders.. Only money on their mind. >_<

And yeah, it is very cramped here with houses. We need the forest here to give us space. Also the people who live inside the loop of Kalkbrennerveien agree that they need the forest there, and in the very least the forest path to remain intact. And to be honest, I think that any people who would buy property in the new housing area would also prefer some air between the houses. I can not see anyone would enjoy having their property crammed up against ours, when we only got 4 metres from our wall to property border.

Thank you, mean while I will try to keep hope up. :)
