Just saw "The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen" (ironically, one of them is a woman...). As one reviewer put it, it's good "old-school action fun." Not exactly an Oscar winner, but certainly worth the tickets, and perhaps a DVD purchase... we'll see.

I didn't mean it's ironic that she was in the league, I simply meant that when you hear of a league of "gentlemen," it's surprising to see a woman. It's not like I was offended, I just found it unexpected (hence the term "ironic")

And I actually mostly agree with you on the rest - it certainly isn't anything close to Oscar-worthy, but to me, at least, it was simple, fun action. Generally I enjoy movies with highly complex plots that require a lot of thinking, but its almost as good to see movies with overly-simple plots that amount to "give us as many excuses as possible to blow stuff up and shoot stuff."
