sometimes I wish folks would actually check stuff before getting their shirts in a knot. One of the things I hate about the SCA is the plethora of rules and regulations that are a mess to keep on top of, and worse, are arbitrary and just plain stupid. Any sort of peerage or royalty can usually do whatever the hell they want when it comes to

Sgain, we live in a Kingdom where Crown's word is law. (This current Crown prefer "Crown's" word is law rather than "King's" word is law. ) That's the game we play.

That doesn't mean that the Crown gets to go against modern law, Kingdom Law or Corpora, but that's quite a mouthful. "The Crown's word is Law unless it breaks modern law, Kingdom Law or Corpora".

It has been my experience that most Royalty try very hard to follow the rules in place; however, they do have some freedom outside those laws about how the game is played during their reign. It is one of the privileges of being a seated Royal.

As for the rules being arbitrary... that's a matter of opinion. (shrug) The laws were put in place for a reason. Are those reasons no longer valid for some of the laws due to changing times? Possibly, but nothing is perfect, and laws are adjusted every few years to try and accommodate new situations or situations that are no longer an issue.
