And it's time time time [OTA]

Fox had spent the time in Rob's car, finding a quiet place to park it away from the medical centre, and away from the resort, and as hard as it was to fathom - just away from everyone. There were quiet places when you knew where to look. She'd had a bag with a burger and fries in it that she'd worked on slowly, not even noticing when it had gone ( Read more... )

Wesley knew what today meant. He hadn't spoken to Fox about the fact for a few days because he didn't want to keep bringing it up if she didn't want to talk about it. But he knew. Sure, he was an assassin, and he had taken lives, but the lives he had taken had been evil bastards, even if Sloan had be screwing with the Fate deal ( ... )

Fox wet her lips as she squeezed Wesley's hand to let him know she knew he was there even if she wasn't taking her gaze off the soldier just yet. "Maybe," she admitted quietly.

"He looks better," Wesley offered nervously. "Less like a corpse, you know, got some colour and stuff. That's gotta be good, right?" Maybe it was just the lighting. "And you know, seriously, what the fuck? Why would he want to wake up with a dirty great tube down his throat? It's probably making him feel dead. The dude's probably in there confused as all fuck."

Fox nodded. "He does. And I hope so, but he's still not awake. I'm running out of time, Wesley. I'm... I'm scared." She frowned a little as she finally turned to look at him. "I don't give a fuck about him being confused. I'm out here bordering on a nervous breakdown. He's breaking me. He can't just lie there and get away with it."

Amber had taken over Chase's Rob-watch earlier so Chase could take a break and also try to deal with an issue between two nurses that broke out in the ER. It basically ended in him telling them to sort it out away from the hospital or one of them would get the sack because patients were being put at risk from their bickering. This wasn't a part of his job he liked at all, but with his Head Nurse out of action, it was something Chase had to deal with ( ... )

Fox looked up at Chase and gave him a tired smile. "No offence, but I hate this place. I hate this bed, I hate this chair, I hate the sound of the heart machine, I hate Rob lying here without moving, I hate the smell, and I sure as fuck hate the colour of the walls... I wouldn't come back if I had a choice."

She pressed her lips together as she shrugged. "I still don't know. All that time just sitting there and thinking, and I still don't know. He wanted the machine switched off... who am I to decide otherwise? I still don't understand why me..."

Chase looked down at her with a small sigh. "I can't tell you why, I can only speculate, which I have been doing extensively. I guess mostly drawing on personal experiences. I just don't think anyone easily puts their life in anyone elses hands unless they have a reason or a purpose to do it."

He went over to the life support machine and waved his hand in front of it. "These three switches here, and it's done. Or I can take the respirator out first and see if he breathes on his own. You just need to give me the word not to, and I'll leave him on it. Otherwise you can just sit there quietly and I'll do it. Or you can go."

Fox shifted to turn in her seat, elbow resting on the edge of Rob's bed as she touched her fingers to her mouth. "If you take the respirator out first... if he starts to crash can you put it back in? If he breathes on his own is that a good thing?"
