Julian got a hold of six chocolate chips while I was dealing with the cat. Her face, hands, clothes and drool were brown and she had a HUGE smile on her face. Long story short - Mike and I went to dinner on his birthday...which would have made Lorraine about 9 months old. She had been contentedly quiet in her high chair and happy with her baby food, until we looked away...which was when she started trying to grab Mike's plate of steak. She was not happy when we placed it further out of reach.

well, at least with that much stainage, she might have gotten only one or two chocolate chip equivalents *into* her!

she is certainly assertive.

Good for her to go for the most important comfort food in the world. Does sound like its time for solid foods.

Our daughter started on solids food around 6 months, IIRC. Her first solid, or near enough, was the tofu from the hot and sour soup in the family-run Chinese restaurant up the hill from our grad-student apartment in Berkeley. The family, especially Mama, loved seeing this little blue-eyed blonde scarfing the hot stuff down (as she still does).

It must have been somewhat later, but when she was still in a stroller, that dunkelpig was visiting with her old high school friend A, who had become a psychiatrist. A commented that our little girl would be in her anal phase. They glanced over and saw that she was covered in chocolate.
