The white wasn't Lambrini or something equally shit and cheap was it? Admittedly I'm quite happy with a supermarket Reisling, Liebfraumilch or Hock, but I don't drink the REALLY cheap crap.
Yes, now that I'm not actually in the 'white wine zone of grumpiness' I can accept that other people can rock, sometimes. Not the bloody intern, who still can't pronounce 'wikipedia'...she insists on referring to 'winky-pedia'. Grrrr. And this creature apparently got a degree. In English. Muppet.
And the wine was a relatively expensive Cotes du Rhone. Housemate said 'ooh, I've never had a white cotes du rhone before'. In retrospect, we ought to have taken a little more notice of that. On the other hand, right now, I'm glad it was undrinkable, as my white wine hangovers are always the worst, and another bottle between three might have been a problem (it would also have been the 5th- I can't remember what we were celebrating). I was planning on deleting this post, but now you have commented. Already deleted the sarcastic comment I left on someone elses'...
Note to self: don't fanny about with lj when rat-arsed.
CJ selected a wonderful white Cotes De Rhone when we had dinner at The Witchery in Edinburgh one time. It cost an arm and a bastard. Perhaps that's the key?
Well, it wasn't too bad; we were dabbling in the £6-£8 range for all the wine, and this was around £7.99, so not great, but not quite in the anti-freeze department. Ah well.
What are you up to on Monday? Both the boys have this next week off, but they seem to want me to go with them to get plants, so we might be going to Colombia Market in Bethnal Green on Monday; wanna come and be incredibly wise and knowledgeable? ;-)
