“Now join your hands, and with your hands your hearts.” -William Shakespeare
“Let the wife make the husband glad to come home, and let him make her sorry to see him leave.” - Martin Luther
“One plus one equals both. ” -Gregory Maguire's Son of a Witch
And the best one of all:
“No. No, you can't… STOP. Please don't go away. Please? No one's ever stuck with me for so long before. And if you leave… if you leave… I just, I remember things better with you. I do, look: P. Sherman, forty-two… forty-two… I remember it, I do. It's there, I know it is, because when I look at you, I can feel it. And - and I look at you, and I… and I'm home. Please… I don't want that to go away. I don't want to forget.” - Finding Nemo
Hmm I think your talking about love. Which has other reasons. I think Shakespeare here is talking about good old fashioned lust! Which operates differently. Especially so when taken out of a love context.
edit: Then I realized that you were talking about something a bit more primal, the basic meat-market bar scene.
We weren't in love, oh no, far from it We weren't searching for no pie-in-the-sky summit We were just young and restless and bored Living by the sword… I used her and she used me and neither one cared We were getting our share Working on those night moves… - Bob Seger
But even so, it's funny how these things can work out, sometimes:
“At least he's paying attention to me…”
“She made me a birthday cake. Nobody… has ever done that for me…”
Next thing you know, his biker bar buddies are shaking their heads, 'cuz he's going home nights, to his woman who has her man.
