If I do, I'll find a way to pay for it. Every economic choice entails risk. Most people who pay for insurance don't get their money's worth, which is why the insurance industry is profitable for its owners. If I had lots of money, I'd get health insurance, but I don't, so I've taken the alternative route of actually LIVING healthy in order to avoid the necessity of medical treatment. I know the risks, but I am not fearful. Death comes to us all.
I'm very glad I have health insurance. Because if it didn't pick up what the ER charged me, I would be shelling out a lot more than I am right now.
I'm not sure what shape a universal healthcare system might take in the United States, but it might work well along the so-called "cafeteria" plan style. Maybe at one time I might resist the idea of it, but when I see money constantly put before people, I say screw the money. The government has failed to reign in healthcare costs, so I don't see what better alternative there is than some sort of healthcare system, be it government-administered or not.
