Health worries

Today we practiced taking blood pressure, among other things. Went well for the most part, until it was my turn, and while the diastolic pressure was about where it should be, the systolic one was around 145.

That's a not yet alarming, but it's above what it should be with a man of my age and weight. The lecturer recommended that I should take ( Read more... )

good poem, should title it Workaholic as to me thats what it describes. Someone so bent on a goal they go through life with blinders on and don't realize how much they are missing.

My boyfriend taught me this lesson well. We went for a walk and as we went he said "Did you see that lovely flower?" I said "no" and then he stated "the reason you didn't see it is because your in such a hurry your missing everything".

He was right, I was racing a bit in my walk and my focus was attuned to the concrete rather than the flora and fauna. I was so busy with where the journey was taking me to not pay attention to the journey itself.

Such too tends to be how culture has evolved. In the past a trip was a tour and the destination though nice wasn't the epicenter of the voyage. Now however we tend to go from point A to B without caring about what is in-between. So your poem today had a deeper meaning for me and I wanted to thank you and share why.

Thank you for sharing that.

Y'know, what you just said made me too think this piece a bit deeper than before. 'Tis may be true that we, as human beings, have lost sight of the present surroundings, and are instead too focused into the future.

Ahh... nothing like a little hypertension. I'd hate to see what mine is any given day. I know that if I've had caffeine and beer that I can make my bed move with my heart beat >.> Hope you check out ok when see someone about it.

The weird thing is that I've been checked before, and sometimes it's been way over 140, sometimes about 120. Could be white coat syndrome, too. Go figure *shrug*

But thanks anyway. I'll definately see a doctor about it if the checkouts turn out high too.

The veterinarian that I work for has white coat syndrome... it's kind of funny since she's a doctor, but she has it bad to the point that when she went in for something they tried to get her on heart meds for it.
