Where's My Candidate?

I don't talk about politics much because most of the readers of this blog have views that are wildy different than my own and I really don't care enough to defend my points every time I make one. But I'm frustrated so I'm going to break my rule here ( Read more... )

I'm much more inclined toward these candidates than either of those offered in 2004. My guy isn't the nominee, the VP, or even running for senate in his own state. If he isn't made secretary of state, I won't know what the hell happened.

I'm still not an Obama fan, but I think the things about both his pastor and his wife have been blown out of proportion. Especially his wife. My pride in America has been waning for the past 7 years, at least. (Walking down the loop with Amisha a couple months after 9/11 and all the dirty looks we were getting because she had brown skin, let me tell you, it rocks your faith.)

I would say, if you're not seeing the candidate you want, find him and help him get where you want him. If you can't find him, maybe that means you are him. :)

As a medical professional, Luke, I'm curious about your opinion. Now that we're neck deep in the Presidential election cycle healthcare is being heavily pushed as an issue again. When we talk about nationalized healthcare or federalized insurance, generally we're talking lower pay to practitioners. I have worked with more than a few doctors who've traveled to the U.S. from Canada to escape socialized medicine and capped earnings.

How does this issue resonate with you?

Our healthcare system is broken and it keeps getting worse. Something needs to be done about it, but socialized medicine is not the way. I'm glad Hilary's out (at least this time) because her plan is terrible...that's why it got voted down in the 90's. The medical community raised a huge fervor.

I also don't want to see healthcare under direct govn't control. That's a disaster in the making.

I don't know what the solution is, but it's nothing any of the candidates are proposing right now.
