PLAN! And you know what else? I'll totally kick your ass in NOT being wordy. I meeeeean it. Like, I'll be HAHA SAGE YOUR FIC IS 250K AND MINE IS ONLY 10K! At least that is my plan. I want my prompt soooooo badly so I can start planning out plot! I've been lurking on people's LJs and Sonorus and have seen people drop hints at what they requested and been all "Ooooh, I could write that!" and before I know it I'm absentmindedly plotting until I'm all "WAIT! Wasting brain power here! I need to wait a couple more weeks!" XD

Also, totally loving how many really awesome writers are signing up. I hope that means someone awesome will fill my prompt. Not that it matters overly much, since my prompt is kinda general, but it would be nice, you know?

OOOH, GAME. ON. We were in...what, a 20 word range difference in our advent submissions? It is very possible I can beat you with a lower word count! ALSO, if it's something either one of us is going to plan on continuing after the exchange...lower word count doesn't count.

...After saying this, if you come up with a story that's less than 5k, I'm going to karate chop you. XD

I haven't seen any hints, but I'VE BEEN DOING THE SAME THING. I keep catching myself spinning off into ideas, and then having to stop to preserve brain abilities, loool. This is why we need our prompts ASAP. I'm hoping they already started the matching.

Agreed! The fact that it's the last one is bringing out a whole lot of people who I don't think would normally attempt it right now. It's going to be pretty awesome! I requested art or fic, so mine will be a surprise all around. Though I don't know if I managed a prompt that was fitting for art, haha.

This is not meant as a criticism of dmhgexchange or the mods, but one of the things I love best about sshg exchange is that the sign ups are not screened; so their sign ups are like a two-week long squeefest party with much mutual prompt admiration.

But yeah, I'm thinking I'd like to center a 250k+ epic around "Draco and Hermione go out for coffee" or something like that. You?

The thing about dmhg is that it's anonymous, and they really do every thing they can to keep it that way, short of telling people not to reveal that they signed up, lol. I love the anonymous side of it, but I think a squeefest would be fun too

:D:D I wrote my first fic for the dmhg, so I think even if I wasn't involved in fandom anymore, I still would have done it. And the readers are just as important!

I actually wasn't going to sign up for this round, because between school and work and my personal trainer I didn't think I would have enough time to sleep, let alone write, BUT AS USUAL LIFE LOVES KICKING ME IN THE ASS. My loan shit got screwed up. AGAIN, S. AGAIN. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME. So I just got frustrated and passive-aggressive and I maaaaaaay have told the woman in the bursar's office to shove the in-state tuition up her ass and that I would take the semester off. J-SPAD, ALWAYS STAYING CLASSY.

I DON'T KNOW WHAT HAS COME OVER ME, but now I'll have free time in abundance! So I signed up.

WHAT. WHATWHAT IS THIS NONSENSE? HOW DID IT GET SCREWED UP AGAIN? Did you mess up the FAFSA or something, or do the people working in the FinAid Dept spend their lunch break actually smoking crack, and so the whole work day they're just nodding out and repeating, "AHAH, I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT I'M EVEN DOING, AHAH".

Well...it'll work out. You can spend all your extra time making money, stories, and good sexins, and be all refreshed and of clear mind next semester.

I THINK IT MIGHT BE A MIXTURE OF BOTH, SADLY. They conveniently forgot to inform me that they were changing the procedures for renewing your loans, which is just fabulous. Most of my student loans are grant-type deals, so they're based on the fact that my GPA kicks all other GPA's asses. I used to just give proof of maintaining over a 3.7 before every fall semester, and they suddenly changed it to EVERY SEMESTER, so when I tried to renew they were like LOL NO, so now they're only giving me the need-based portion, and none of my grant money. SO THEY CAN JUST FUCK THEIR OWN FACES, because I can't come up with like $8k out of pocket, I WORK AT A GODDAMN SHOE STORE, OKAY. So I'll be taking the semester off and reapplying for BETTER GRANTS. ONES THAT WILL GIVE ME MORE MONEY FOR BEING SMART AND THINGS

UH, NO, I COMPLETELY BLAME THEM FOR ALL OF THIS. Who the fuck doesn't tell a person that? Doesn't inform EVERYONE who gets those grants? BASTARDS. And 8k is crazy out of pocket unless you're rolling in it, so fuck 'em. You'll go back next semester with all your shit figured out. They're def the sort of school where you have to stay on their asses about what needs to be done on both ends. AND LOOK AT YOU with that high GPA. I think this makes me Pinky, loool.

BRB GOING TO CATCH A SHARK FOR POSSIBLE FUTURE ATTACKS ON BOTH OF US, BC SRSLY, WE'RE NOT GOING THROUGH THAT PAIN AGAIN. We're OBLIGATED to stop one another, OR the flying kicks of doom at the exchange deadline will have to turn back around on us and break faces. BUT YES, 5AM EMAILS LIKE YOU WOULD NOT BELIEVE.

Sorry to hear about the angry reviewers. They tend to... not read pertinent details like community rules. Hope it doesn't put you off from writing, but from the looks of it, it doesn't :)

SCORE! Older writers like...? I tried to think of anyone you could possibly mean, but I came up empty, lol. Are you nervous over what your prompt is going to be, or just excited to see where the ideas are going to lead?

I was actually a bit surprised with how many of them were angry with me! Some were just normal questions about where else they could find it, or just asking me why I locked it, but...o.O Some of my readers aren't the most calm -- which I love them for -- but I'm not used to that many angry messages, haha. Definitely doesn't put me off from writing, though. It's the "I want Thing A to happen" followed by the "I want the very opposite of Thing A to happen" that stresses me out. :) You know how it is!

I don't think I'd be able to handle all the pressure from that many readers. Since I can't seem to manage a multi-chap fic even if my life depended on it, I mostly miss the "OMG. Why are you taking so long to updateYOUREKILLINGMEEEEEXDDDDD. By the way, I think Draco should totally make out with Hermione in front of Ron so he gets the picture LOL!one"

I was going to say that I thought Gravity and bk just signed up a few rounds ago, then read this is your first one. I'm glad you made it in time to do a round! This exchange is definitely a classic of the ship, and we're all going to be pretty sad when it's gone. But we have this round, at least!

No matter how long or often I write, I'm shaky-nervous every time I post a chapter of anything. At the end of the day, you just have to realize that these people are reading your story because they enjoy aspects of it and the way you write -- so going against that because you're going to disappoint a few of them is a very bad idea. And LOL, yeees, the wonderful UPDATE NOW reviews.
