Maybe it was a bad idea. On the way back from a very pleasant evening at an Irish pub I suggested making a drinking game of the Vice Presidential debate. With a word list that included "America", "taxes", "spending", and "Iraq" the last thing I remember is vomiting into a bush...I think that was a word as well ( Read more... )

I probably would have vomited into the bush after watching the VP debate without booze...

Hey man! How's the Somali Pirate situation affecting jobs in that area, or in general. Do you feel any pinch or security training or anything as a result of this kind of stuff?

This pirate stuff isn't really anything new it just usually doesn't get this much coverage. However they don't normally mess with US flag ships. Even still extreme caution is taken in hotspots like the Straights of Malaka or Aden or Hormuz. Some jobs require firearms training. The school offers it but I didn't take it. Should though, you get to shot an AR15, 12 gauge, and 9mm.

Normal procedure is to "repel boarders" with firehoses. I've heard of the Navy MP security officers shooting at shall boats that apprach too close. And there was that thing with the Britis soldiers taken hostage by Iran last year, could have set off a war.
