It's really NOT that simple.

As of 8 pm tonight, I have gone for one hundred and three hours and 30 minutes without a cigarette.  This is the longest I have gone without smoking in 9 years ( Read more... )

I'm excited that you have figured out WHY cigs are compelling for you. In my life I've found that, when change is hard, often there is a subconscious reason why. Once I figure out the underlying reason/motivation, it is easier to decide if I still want to change, and to follow thru if I choose. I always need to verbalize.

Looking forward to seeing you, hopefully at Kris Kinder. Stop by the Darkdale & Associates booth, and we can talk.

Viviana had some e-cigs that were colored. They reminded me of pictures of my Mother in college - she had cigarets that matched her fancy dresses and in her sorority's colors. I'm not sure if she really smoked them, though. (I would totally believe she doesn't know how to inhale.)

Wonder if you can bead the e-cigs? You should totally make them a fashion accessory.

This was interesting to me on many levels. It's a very confusing issue, because addiction does not work the same way for all people in all situations. I've often wondered "why" people do what they do and especially smoking. Your take on this makes complete sense on many levels.

Fionn, I'm glad you're making this change. I won't pat you on the head or talk to you like a good puppy who's learned not to mess the house. Also, if you need time away from people, find a "gate keeper". Go off where you need to be, your tent, a quiet spot, your car and set a guard for your space. I will happily threaten people with scissors on your behalf.

If you prefer to do it yourself, I recommend pepper spray...Oh, and anyone who thinks that quitting smoking is easy needs to look in the mirror and get rid of that last ten pounds before they should be talking.

Making healthy choices is simple only on paper or in your imagination. In the real world it's a miserable slog where you are facing double cheeseburgers and martinis and stress.

My folks smoked, especially my Dad. It contributed to his death but I do sincerely thank you for reminding me of some of the happier memories that are associated with it.

I so respect, and admire, your honesty in sharing so much with us. You are Awesome, with sauce :).
