Merry X-mas!

I would have called, but I think you said you would still be at your Dad’s? Didn’t want to distract you. Just got back home. Had a nice visit with my parents. My brother, Sean, also stopped by on Christmas Eve and stayed the night with his wife and two kids. I had forgotten how exhausting they could be! We were all happy when they opened their presents so they would have something to distract themselves with. Cuteness only goes so far.

Sean was going to be spending Christmas with his wife’s family, so we had our huge Christmas dinner on the Eve. I think Mom was making up for my missed Thanksgiving with all the food she was trying to get me to eat. Took home enough food with me to last for at least a week if I can manage to keep it from spoiling.

I hope you had a good Christmas, and that it was somewhat quieter than mine. I can still hear the sounds of children giggling and their dad who encouraged it way too much.

Going to take a nice long bath-with thoughts of you, of course-then read until I fall asleep and not get up for 10 hours.

Hope to talk to you soon!

Still yours, Robert

It was lovely to hear from you. We had a quiet family Christmas, but it is nice to return to the quiet of my own flat. I do love my family, but after three days of non-stop questions about my love life, I am happy to retreat to the peace of Islington and my flat.

It sounds like you had a nice time with your family, hopefully they kept the nagging to a minimum. If I remember correctly you are staying at your New York flat? Is that correct? I am planning on calling you New Year’s Eve, if you have no other plans, so I can hear your voice as the year comes to an end. Unfortunately no chance for a visit this year. I really wish I could make it a tradition for us.

I start filming a new project on the 6th of January and will be getting the final draft of the script on the 29th. We both know how this will go: another final will be sent out on the 1st to correct the errors from the other final and they will play this game until the filming begins.

Next time you see me, I will look a little different. I got a call from the director and they have decided that I need to have shorter hair, not that I mind cutting it. It is that it just takes a while to regrow. I am excited for this project. If it goes well, I will have a new show that will keep me busy and out of any mischief.

The time line is pretty tight--QI will start up again three weeks after filming, hopefully things will go well.

Enjoy the snow in New York, I heard ten inches fell yesterday, make sure to stay warm.

Keeping you in my thoughts,

Take care Love,
AD

Family is great, but in small doses. I, too, had the usual ‘get a girlfriend’ comments. Surprisingly, Sean was the one to roll his eyes and run interference for me. I think he was just trying to keep me at the table instead of retreating so that I could help him keep a hold on his kids.

Yes! Got home to a ton of snow here in New York. Had to crack the windows to get rid of the unlived in feeling and almost froze.

Took a walk earlier today. I wore that scarf you had sent me and I hope you were joking about the hat. Would feel like I had a neon sign on my head if I wore it! Went down to Central Park. If I closed my eyes, I could still feel you near me. I stopped by at the Alice in Wonderland sculptures, and glanced over The Jabberwocky plaques. It wouldn’t have felt the same to recite it without you next to me, even if I closed my eyes and tried to pretend. Maybe next year you can join me.

I hope the hair stylist doesn’t get too crazy with the short look. I need some to run my fingers through! All booked up for shooting for awhile. Maybe we can get together once you are finished with it all?

Looking forward to your phone call!

Talk to you soon,
Robert

11.03 Happy New Year
