I'm so sick of seeing posts like these. (not seeing people post about them, but seeing that they exist to be posted about) It seems like every few weeks some other state is being an asshole over basic human rights..... drives me insane.

Our system of government is about the freedom of choice, which includes choosing something that is illogical, cruel, counterproductive, or bias

Actually that's not true here. Our governor wasn't elected into office. When Spitzer stepped down after his sex scandal Paterson stepped in without election. Though he's the one who proposed the bill he's screwed things up SO bad here in NY that he doesn't have anyone on his side. This could've done wonders for our state financially but they threw it away
