I don't guess you'd make the same argument about Matrix 2?

Of course not. Matrix 2 blew chunks.

I've come to a few conclusions.

1) Some people are hypocritical idiots.
2) Some are exaggerating their hatred for comedic effect.
3) There may be real issues with lack of resolution in Pirates 2.
4) Having been in diapers when Empire came out, I don't know what the initial audiences thought of it. It may have taken time for it become as beloved as it is.
5) No internet when Empire came out, keeping asshats from ruining the movie with their idiot opinions before it became so beloved.
6) My loving of the humor, that cool last sword fight, and the amazing CG in Pirates 2 may be tainting my view of the ending; giving it a pass. My own biases may be keeping me from seeing the true assness of the ending.

I shall just go on liking Pirates 2, and ignoring those that hate it. In the end, they're only hurting themselves.

Easy answer...

It didn't have a mind-blowing revelation (Luke, I am your father.).

Yes, the ghost captain from the first movie appeared at the end, but it's a comparably small revelation.
