Calling all webcam owners:

HELP ME!

The iSight appears to have been discontinued with no replacement because they are built into everything.

Woe is me.

dreema has been the only helpful soul so far. I know there are many more geeks out there who can assist!

geekery, webcam

I had a quickcam and it was good. I have an intel one that i think is good - i haven't used it in eons though. Back in the day I found more that the software I used is what made the difference not so much the webcam.

oops, sorry, i didn't realise they'd stopped making the isight. that's a bit, well, shortsighted...

There's always ebay

Turns out there were other reasons for them stopping selling it ...

The external iSight has been withdrawn from sale in the European Union and USA, according to AppleInsider, allegedly due to the introduction of the Restriction of Hazardous Substances Directive on 1 July 2006.

The one that ships built in is a different beast - usb interface with a different capture mechanism
